However, that's possible because whereas the TB16 and the WD19 models work by tapping into a native GPU output available over USB-C/TB3, the Dxxxx series docks like the D6000 use DisplayLink compression technology. If your display requirements are higher than that, then you'd be looking at the Dell D6000, which can handle triple displays up to 4K each. The WD19 when used with an HBR2/DisplayPort 1.2 system like the Latitude 5500 (and the WD19TB when used with a non-Thunderbolt system) can only do dual displays up to 1920x1200. The WD19TB when used with a Thunderbolt system can run dual displays up to 4K and some triple display configurations. When used with a non-Thunderbolt device, the WD19TB is functionally equivalent to a regular WD19 - but if you think you might get a Thunderbolt-capable system down the road, then you'd have a more capable dock waiting for you. That's possible because it uses a newer Thunderbolt controller chip that supports that. The latter is a Thunderbolt dock that is backward compatible with non-Thunderbolt devices, unlike the TB16.
If you'll never be running dual displays at more than 1920x1200 each, I would go with the WD19 or WD19TB. Lec it depends on the resolution(s) of the displays you want to run simultaneously.
